My name is Marilys. I'm a professional tutor and native French speaker born and raised in Marseille. I have experience teaching students with varied learning styles and have developed and implemented teaching methods tailored to meet the specific needs of each student. I also have a broad experience teaching with ADHD and dyslexia. I tutor math and French for elementary through highschool in Marseille. Although on this platform I'm offering my services as a French language tutor. I'm offering a free trial lesson to assess your individual needs and gauge your current level. I am a Russian language teacher, a graduate of Moscow State Pedagogical University (Master's degree) and the University of Aix-en-Provence. After my university studies, I taught for several years in a Moscow school. Since arriving in France in 1989, I have taught Russian at the Leschi Institute in Marseille and at the Les Chemins school in Aix-en-Provence, at both the middle and high school levels, following the national curriculum. I have prepared students for the Baccalaureate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees, achieving excellent results. I have also taught Russian at the Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce, Soft, Euro-tech, the Port of Marseille Authority, and other institutions. Each lesson is tailored to the individual needs and academic level of the student, as well as their ability to assimilate and apply new information. I teach grammar, conjugation, vocabulary, spelling, and adapted teaching methods, as well as a significant general knowledge component (civilization, literature, cinema, theater, painting, architecture, music, dance, singing, current events, etc.), conversation, and a touch of humor. I give lessons at students' homes (13005), and I can also travel to my students' homes.

I am an UK native, living in Marseille in France and working as an English teacher. I am hoping to expand my scope for teaching more students by offering some online classes and conversation. I moved with my partner (another English teacher) to France in September and to Marseille in February, and since that time I have been working as an English teacher with children including for companies like Mary Poppins and Speaking Agency. I have worked with several French families and I've been given great feedback about my method, dedication and ability to bond with all the children. The children I have been working with vary in age from 3-10 years and I have gained a lot of experience with them. I have previously worked with adults both in the UK and abroad whilst volunteering (specifically in Bangladesh). I now feel confident to teach English to those who are just starting out on their language journey and also those more advanced students who want to practice their conversation or discuss in-depth issues around grammar or specific insight to idioms used in the English language that are less accessible to a non native. I have a Masters degree in Development, Conflict and Security and an Undergraduate degree in International Law. I volunteer with Médecin du Monde, translating where necessary (as many refugees speak only English). Learning to speak a French as a second language has really helped me to understand the best ways to learn and has improved my teaching, because until you go through the process of learning a second language yourself (especially in later life) it is difficult to know exactly the best strategies for the most impactful syllabus.

I am a psychotherapist (psychotherapeutic scolaire) and teacher from the USA, where I most recently worked in the top-ranked public high school in Louisiana. I moved permanently to Marseille on 01 June of this year; subsequently, I am seeking to take students for online or home-bound instruction/tutoring of English as a Second Language (ESL). I can work with students ages 9-25, from absolute beginners to advanced. My training and experience as an opera singer make me especially qualified to focus on accent reduction and speaking skills. In addition, I have advanced degrees (including a Ph.D.) that have prepared me to help my students with their writing skills. Lastly, I can provide preparation for the TOEFL, GRE, and other English-language exams, and coaching for job interviews and study-abroad programs.
