Q: What areas of the SAT or ACT Language exam do you specialize in, and what level of students do you usually work with?

I specialize in the two key sections which are the Reading & Writing section which includes reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, etc and the Math section. i also specialize in preparing students to take cognitive abilities tests.

Q: How do you approach teaching SAT or ACT Language exam strategies, such as time management, test-taking skills, and guessing strategies?

I have developed a detailed approach to preparing students for various exams and will discuss with each student prior to the first session.

Q: How do you ensure that your SAT or ACT Language lessons are aligned with the current test format and content?

I am continually reviewing test types and formats and always use the current version as the basis for each student’s learning.

Q: What is your teaching methodology and how do you structure your SAT or ACT Language lessons to meet the needs of individual students?

My teaching methodology centers on determining what style of learning fits best with each student. It could be auditory, kinesthetic, visual, spatial, verbal, etc.

Q: Can you provide a sample lesson plan for a SAT or ACT Language exam topic or concept?

This can be provided prior to the first session.

Q: How do you assess a student's English language proficiency level?

Through a series of grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing exercises.

Q: What materials do you use for your tutoring sessions?

I use the materials that I have incorporated into each lesson plan. This consists of topic relates teachings, activities, videos, online materials and white board sessions.

Q: What strategies do you use to help students improve their writing skills?

Each student will learn the key elements of writing, what each topic should include, and then I build in progressive vocabulary and grammar rules and have them incorporate these into the writing assignments.

Q: How do you teach grammar and vocabulary?

Each lesson will have specific vocabulary and grammar rules that will build upon the previous session.

Q: Do you offer mock exams for students to practice?

Yes

Q: How do you teach students to write a well-structured essay?

I cover each component of essay writing separately. These include an introduction, developing a clear thesis, logical body paragraphs, a meaningful conclusion and wrap up of ideas.

Q: How do you help students improve their pronunciation and intonation?

I focus on phonemes, phonetic transcription, speaking slowly and clearly, proper enunciation and articulation.

Q: What strategies do you use to help students improve their listening skills?

One strategy I use is teaching the 7 key active listening skills: be attentive, ask open ended questions, ask probing questions, request clarification, paraphrase, reflect feelings, summarize.

Q: How do you motivate students to keep learning and improving their English skills?

By making each session different, fun, challenging and achievable.
