About My Tutoring I provide 1-to-1 violin tutoring for players of all levels—from beginners taking their first steps to advanced musicians refining their artistry. I am thoroughly familiar with both ABRSM and Trinity College London requirements and hold an ABRSM Grade 8 Practical (Violin) and a Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) Performance Diploma with High Distinction. My students include orchestra members at both Secondary and Junior College levels, many of whom are part of prestigious school orchestras that have achieved Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF). My Teaching Approach I specialize in performance improvement and public performance preparation, helping students not only play technically accurate pieces but bring them to life with musicality and expression. Music is more than hitting the right notes—it's about telling a story and connecting with your audience. I focus on building strong technical foundations that enable rapid and sustained progression. Students typically see significant improvement within just a few months, developing skills that benefit them throughout their musical journey. My approach emphasizes both right-hand technique (often overlooked) and left-hand technique, helping students develop confidence and overall ability as violinists. Beyond technical skills, I guide students to critically evaluate their own intonation, rhythm, tone quality, and phrasing—essential tools for independent practice and faster progression as musicians. Benj learned to play the violin at the age of 10. He studied with four violin teachers before moving on to finish his Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, and Master’s Degree in Music Performance at the Philippine Women’s University College of Music. He performs occasionally for the Manila Symphony Orchestra and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the string group The Manila String Machine. He recently received training in teaching the Suzuki Violin Method under renowned Suzuki pedagogues Dr. Lan Ku Chen and Prof. Christophe Bossuat. Benj currently teaches the violin at the Centro Escolar University Conservatory of Music (Manila Campus) and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

Anjelica “Lyka” Arellano is a classical violinist currently finishing her bachelor’s degree in The University of the Philippines under the tutelage of Prof. Chona Noble. She joined a 3 month Bootcamp with Dr. Lynn Kuo to supplement her education. Her musical knowledge extends beyond the violin with training in classical ballet in both RAD and Cecchetti methods with Ms. Desiree Peralejo. As a freelance artist, Lyka played with various groups and festivals including one abroad with the World Civic Orchestra in 2019. She is also a member of the UP Symphony Orchestra.
